Yo La Tengo en la Parque

Some fine tuneage in the park from those cats known as Yo and La and Tengo. They played some righteous instrumental music to the images of various fish friends, crustaceans and the sort, having sex in very odd ways (these were French sea world documentaries). YLT is about perfect for this assignment, as their rock can swing from a languid, pot-smoking mixer to cacophonous art rock (which would’ve worked nicely with a shark movie). They got a little jauntiness into their beat during the wonderful piece on sea horses. Those little creatures are very cool. It would be nice if Yo La wrapped this up into a DVD.

Jennie, I’m saddened to say that I didn’t see James. The band was actually below the screen, almost in an orchestra pit, so I couldn’t even tell if he was dancing. But their music was spectacular for the spectacle.
